Hey, I'm Laura

Hi, I am Laura Walker, the owner of Groom 2 You, a mobile dog grooming
Spa.

Before starting my dog grooming business, I had groomed my own poodle Pippa for eight years, really enjoying using my creative side to give her a super cute poodle cut. This spurred me to finally take the leap to train and qualify as a dog groomer to make a passion my job.

I have also worked with the slightly bigger equine four-legged friends all my life, experienced in training, producing and competing horses.
As an animal mad and dog lover, you can rest assured that your dog has my undivided attention, allowing for a relaxed and comfortable grooming experience.

Fully OCN qualified and insured dog groomer. I was regularly attending webinars/seminars to continue learning and updating my skills.

GROOM 2 YOU TERMS & CONDITIONS

The owner agrees that the dog is fit and healthy. Grooming of sick or elderly dogs is entirely at the owner’s risk. Grooming may expose underlying skin or health problems that I cannot be held liable for. You must notify me of any changes whatsoever before each groom is undertaken.

I reserve the right not to accept a dog that presents risk of injury to itself or myself.

Any pre-existing coat or health conditions of your dog will be discussed, if you have any shampoo you prefer to be used you should supply this at your own expense for me to use during the groom.

Appointments

Whilst I understand that sometimes appointments have to be cancelled due to an emergency, I ask that you give me at least 24 hours notice where possible, prior to appointment cancellation, as I have a waiting list of clients that can be filled with another dog in need of a groom. On the occasion that you have missed your appointment I have also been let down by an empty appointment slot and as a small business this has a negative impact on me financially especially if I have arrived at your property. If this is the case you will be liable for the cost of the groom.

Grooming – De-Matting

I appreciate it can be normal for even a well-cared for coat to have a few small knots, but when I am presented with more substantial matting, there will be an extra charge.

I will ATTEMPT to de-matt a coat, only where I feel the dog will not suffer any pain or distress.

All grooming services adhere to and go beyond The Animal Welfare Act 2006, which states that it is an offence to cause animals pain or discomfort and I reserve the right to refuse to do anything I think may be detrimental to your pet’s wellbeing – Be assured that at Groom 2 You, I will always put your dog’s welfare first.

When a dog is presented to me in a severely matted condition – at front of mind will be the dog’s welfare. It is then my policy to shave the whole coat using electric clippers with a close blade. I consider shaving an act of kindness – this will be discussed during your consultation.

I will NEVER attempt to de-matt an elderly/infirm or aggressive dog – Thank-you for your understanding.

Matting leads to many skin conditions:

  • Eye and Ear Infections
  • Flea Infestation
  • Fungal & Bacterial Infections
  • Hot Spots & Sores
  • Maggot Infestation
  • Mites & Lice
  • Moist Eczema
  • Severe Itching
  • Skin Rash
  • Urine and Faeces Scalding
  • Yeast Infections

If you require help and advice on how to care for your dog between grooming sessions, please do ask. I will be more than happy to go through an individual schedule suited to your dog.

Prevention is better than the cure, so don’t wait until your dog is knotted and matted again; book regular appointments in advance with Groom 2 You, to ensure your dog always feels good and is well cared for.

** Please Note: My normal grooming charges do not include de-matting and where I make an attempt, there is an additional charge.

Grooming – Style

Every effort will be made to groom your dog to meet your expectations. It must be made clear however, that no guarantee can be made in this regard, and I accept no responsibility for a groom carried out according to your instructions, but not to your visual expectations. Records are kept in order to track progress and it may take several grooming sessions for the coat to grow to your desired style.

Pet care

Your dog’s welfare is of utmost importance to me but there is always the possibility an accident could occur. Grooming equipment is sharp, even though I use extreme caution and care in all situations. Possible problems that could occur include cuts, nicks, scratches and quicking of the nails. In most cases this can happen when a dog is wiggling or moving around. I make every effort to ensure your dog is groomed as safely as possible, but if your dog does not accept the process it can be dangerous to continue the groom.

I cannot be held responsible for any adverse reactions to products used; this includes but is not limited to shampoos, colognes and ear cleaner. Any known allergies should be disclosed to the me prior to appointment.

I will ensure your dog is safe and secure and I only use superior quality products. I will not continue a groom on a dog that becomes severely anxious or aggressive. It may be necessary for me to use a muzzle on your dog for its own safety and that of the myself. I carry a selection of comfortable, various sized muzzles, which allow your dog to breathe normally and drink if necessary. A muzzle serves to both calm the dog and prevent damage or injury.

Aggressive or Dangerous Dogs

Owners MUST inform me if your dog bites, has bitten or is aggressive to people, other pets or specific grooming procedures. I reserve the right to refuse or stop services of your dog at any time before or during the grooming process and/or charge an Aggressive Dog Fee commensurate to the additional handling required to complete the groom in addition to the regular grooming charge. If your dog should bite the owner agrees to be responsible for any and all related medical bills, recovery costs, loss of income and equipment damage.

Fleas/Ticks

Groom 2 You strives to be a flea/tick-free environment. If your dog has a flea or tick infestation I will ask that you reschedule your grooming appointment once the flea or tick problem is under control. Dogs with a flea or tick infestation carry a risk of anaemia, infections, tapeworms and other health problems. I recommend that you contact your veterinarian for advice on the best treatment for your situation.

Costs

Estimation costs can be provided at the time of booking but these will be subject to reassessment of the dog on the day. Some cost adjustment, with owner’s agreement, may be necessary in respect of the dog’s size, coat condition and the style and time required. All payments must be made in full upon return of your dog. I accept cash and card payments.

The owner agrees for photographs of their dog to be taken and used on the Groom 2 You website and Facebook Page.

I respect your confidentiality and will not share your details without your prior consent.
